Project Name:
Hareact(Household Access To Renewable Energy & Clean Cooking Technology)
About

The project comprises five integrated components. Component 1 focuses on expanding power generation through the installation of solar PV systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in five selected towns Eyl, Dusamareeb, Jowhar, Barawe, and Bardhere providing a total solar PV capacity of 2,450 kWp and 4,750 kWh of energy storage. Component 2 involves the expansion of the distribution network and customer connections. Subcomponent 2.1 includes the construction of 30.22 km of new 11kV medium voltage (MV) overhead lines, installation of 31 pole-mounted 50 kVA 11/0.4 kV distribution transformers, and 24 km of low voltage (LV) overhead lines across the same locations. Subcomponent 2.2 entails the procurement of postpaid energy meters to facilitate new customer connections, particularly targeting poor and vulnerable households. Component 3 promotes the dissemination of advanced cooking technologies, aiming to distribute 25,000 improved biomass cookstoves to reduce health risks, improve fuel efficiency, and mitigate carbon emissions. Component 4 covers technical assistance, capacity building, and design and supervision consultancy for the Federal Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, and the private sector, focusing on the development, integration, operation, and maintenance of renewable energy systems and clean cooking solutions. Finally, Component 5 provides the operational costs of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), ensuring effective management and execution of the project.
